Niall Williams
Niall is Financial Director and co-founder of NDLA and holds a BA in Landscape Architecture, MA in Landscape and Urbanism and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of the Arts.
Niall has worked on and co-ordinated large-scale schemes across the UK, covering a wide range of complex and innovative schemes across a wide range of sectors. His work often involves co-ordinating multi-disciplinary teams integrating solutions such as landscape, access, biodiversity net gain and ecology, drainage, and Master planning. These projects range from community led projects, award-winning play schemes, to large landscape regeneration projects such as Stratford-Upon-Avon’s Riverside Regeneration scheme, which was a Covid Recovery Scheme, alongside multiple large scale strategic housing schemes. One such project is a large 800-unit residential development, with associated golf course and community assets, which also was the first large scale water neutral development in the country, as well as working on similar sized proposals for new garden villages in the south of England. Niall has also worked on small scale but high profile and technically challenging projects, such as the country’s most sustainable retrofit home, and the Covid Memorial Garden in the Olympic Park.
Niall is a former Trustee of the Landscape Institute and a past Delegate to the International Federation of Landscape Architects World and European Councils, representing the UK at events in Singapore, Turkey, Norway, and London. His work has led him to meet world-leading designers and specialists in all aspects of environmental design and research. He has previously spoken at UN events such as the World Urban Forum in Abu Dhabi, and the Forum on Urban Forestry, Italy. Additionally, he has spoken at and attended various events in both Westminster and Brussels on developing sustainable cities and agricultural systems.
Niall hosts the People, Place and Nature Podcast - a podcast that discusses the environmental challenges and issues of the day, potential solutions and innovations that will allow us to overcome these challenges and provide the latest thinking and connections to cutting edge solutions for our clients.
