Richard Fox
Richard is our Managing Director and Chartered Landscape Architect who joined NDLA as Director of Operations in January 2023 bringing with him a wealth of experience across all aspects of the landscape architecture, landscape planning and design. Having worked for several years heading up the regional office and landscape architecture team for a respected multi-disciplinary environmental consultancy, Richard is responsible for the development and growth of the company over the coming years and brings a broad range of understanding and experience to the table. Richard is also a chartered landscape architect.
Richard studied Garden Art & Design and Landscape Architecture at Leeds Beckett (Metropolitan) University where he focused on Urban Design at post graduate level. Richard became a chartered member of the Landscape Institute (CMLI) in November 2012. His background in Garden Design and a keen interest in urban design has enabled him to work on both small-scale design schemes as well as large scale strategic masterplans. Richard has considerable experience within the planning and design sector and has worked on a wide range of schemes, including retail, commercial and industrial, residential, renewables, urban regeneration, and environmentally sensitive sites; and manages numerous small to large scale residential, commercial, renewable and leisure applications, providing advice from inception, site capacity and feasibility through to master planning and detail design stage.
Richard has a wealth of experience in the preparation of Environmental Impact Assessments, Landscape and Visual Impact Assessments, and Townscape Assessments, and has acted as an expert witness at a number of planning appeals. Richard has also taught LVIA process and theory in partnership with the Landscape Institute and has helped mentor and guide landscape architects through the Landscape Institute’s ‘Pathway to Chartership’ Process.
